Colchester Lights Switch On
Date : Wednesday 13th November 2024 5:30pm till late
Join them for Colchester’s annual Festive Light Parade and Switch On on Wednesday 13th November.
Mercury Theatre has been working with local schools and workshop participants this season to weave some yuletide magic and create dazzling lanterns to light up the procession along the High Street. You’ll see familiar faces, fan favourites and a great big dose of local charm.

Basildon At Christmas
Date : Saturday 16th November 2024
The event will see a Bavarian food court with activities like Basildon’s light parades, craft stalls, and displays, alongside a Santa’s Grotto, crazy golf.
On the main stage, there will be shows featuring La Danse Fantastique, Flex Youth Club, Basildon Pride, the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk from Towngate Theatre and headlined by The BIG Sing Choir.
There will also be a Fireworks Finale. In addition, there will be the usual Christmas lights switch on in St Martin’s Square, a live jazz café at Towngate Theatre.

Wivenhoe Lights Switch On
Date : Thursday 5th December 2024
Once again, St Mary’s Church Wivenhoe will be holding their famous Christmas Market on Thursday 5th of December 2024 6pm – 8pm at St Mary’s Church, Wivenhoe, CO7 9BE.
Visit Santa’s Grotto, tell him and his Elves what you would like for Christmas and drop off your Christmas wish letters into the North Pole post box (please add your address and local postcode!).
The Church will be wonderfully decorated, and there will be many stalls both inside and outside selling toys and Christmas gifts, with plenty of food and delicious hot chocolate.
Madrigal singers will be touring around singing traditional Christmas Carols, and The Mayor and the Town Crier will lead the Big Countdown to switch on the Village Christmas lights as the Church bells ring out.
