Open Farm Sunday Norfolk

Deepdale Farm

Location : Main Road Burnham Deepdale King’s Lynn, Norfolk, PE31 8DD

The whole family is welcome at this FREE event. Come and find out about how we farm, what we’re doing for wildlife, soil health, and explore our machinery and enjoy various fun activities.

We will be running two sessions throughout the day: 10am – 1pm and 1pm-4pm. Session times are a rough indicator of timings, but if you would like to join a farm walk, then please arrive in time to join departures from the farmyard at either 11am or 2pm depending on which session you have booked.

The walk is about 3km, approx. 1.5hr, with regular stops and discussions about our crops, regenerative and organic farming practices, woodland and wildlife. It will take you to areas of the farm not usually open to the public, with fantastic views of Scolt Head Island and Brancaster Harbour.

We have found this walk is most appropriate for ages 12+, but this is at your discretion depending on your child’s interest in farming and wildlife, and their capacity for a good walk.

Edfords Care Farm

Location : Browns Lane Mautby, Norfolk, NR29 3JQ

Edfords is opening the farm to the public for our second Open Farm Sunday, after such a good response to our event last year we have decided to open the gates to more people this time around. We will have parking on site, some additional stall holders with local produce and a BBQ using organic produce from our on site butchery.

As an Organic Farm we are focused on farming with nature in mind so we will have access to walk around the farm and learn from our team what we do here at Edfords and why we think organic farming is so important. We will have sheep dog displays throughout the day and the opportunity to get hands on with some of our sheep, pigs and poultry.

We will open the farm from 10:00am to 4pm, all you have to do is book a ticket for the morning or the afternoon, this is just so we can manage the parking and flow on the farm better so both sessions will have the chance to see everything and the BBQ will be cooking from 11:30.

Join us in Holkham Park to see how they all work together towards our vision to be the UK’s most pioneering and sustainable rural estate.

You’ll get to see what machinery and equipment the farming team uses (yes, there will be some big tractors!), how the forestry team manages our invaluable woodland habitats, how the conservation and gamekeeping teams work with wildlife and what our gardening team is growing this year.

This year, we’ll also have some fantastic demonstrations from our game keeping and farming team. We will also be joined by a member of the East Anglian Sheepdog Society to showcase a working sheepdog demonstration.
