A day trip to Southend

If you’re planning a day trip (or even a holiday), heading to Southend is a great idea. There’s so much to do even if the sun isn’t shining.

Whether it be a trip to the pier or seeing some great sights at their Adventure Island Park, there is lots to do on a day trip to Southend.

You could go to see Southend United play as they attempt to get back into the Football League. Oh, and if you love a gamble while the kids are watching a show, then there are some excellent casinos to visit, too. Here are four great reasons to plan a day trip to Southend.

The Pier

No day trip to Southend is complete without spending some time on the pier. This is no normal pier; for a start, it is the longest one in the world. No wonder they have a train that can take you the 1.33-mile distance of this historic pier.

Of course, you can take a gentle wander down the pier. If you’ve spent some time on the beach (there are seven miles of coastline to enjoy), you can relax on the pier. Have a good rest while having another ice cream or a meal in one of their cafes. After all, you’ve got to have fish and chips, haven’t you?

Have an adventure in Southend

A day trip should be an adventure, which is in store at this Essex resort. Adventure Island is another unmissable experience that is part of a trip to the seaside. There are over 40 rides and attractions and lots of screams on the way.

It’s probably best not to go on the Twists of Rage too soon after some ice cream, Southend Rock or hot dogs at the Jungle Jive Cafe or Feelgoods restaurant. This has a 75ft drop and a 360 degrees barrel roll. There’s nothing else like that in all of England, not even Blackpool.

Children, in particular, adore this, and Blue Peter viewers voted it the most thrilling rollercoaster in the UK.

Even more entertaining is Axis, which takes you 100ft in the air and part of the pendulum-style ride sees you taken upside-down.

Casinos

There are plenty of amusement arcades in Southend, but also three casinos. They are more exciting than trying to win a cuddly toy or get a full house playing bingo. The casinos in Southend offer the chance to win cash while the rest of the family enjoys attractions elsewhere. Who knows, you might even win enough to cover the cost of your day trip or holiday in Southend?

Whether it be the Grosvenor, the Genting or the Best Casino, you will have a fantastic time. These have the best live blackjack dealers; hopefully, the next card dealt will be a lucky one for you. If you love slots, each of the casinos has an excellent selection with some big prizes to win.

The fun doesn’t have to end when you leave the casino. Plenty of licensed and regulated online sites also host live blackjack dealers and all the other mechanics of a real casino.

What if it’s a rainy day?

While Southend can guarantee you a great time in the resort, it can’t do much about the weather. A trip to the English seaside can often see you wondering just when the rain will stop. Don’t despair, though, as there is plenty to do in Southend if the weather isn’t quite what you’d like to see.

Sealife Adventure is an excellent and informative place to visit, with over 40 fascinating displays. You’ll see everything from sharks to penguins and even monkeys and meerkats. Ever seen a clown fish? Well, you will if at Sealife in Southend. Oh, and there are dinosaurs too, and we all know how much children love those.

Then there’s Kingpins Bowl, where you can discover what interactive ten-pin bowling is. There’s also Air Hockey, an amusement arcade, AR Darts and Shuffleboard. For the adults, a cocktail or two in the Urban Chic Bar is recommended.

A trip to Southend can be an escape from all the stress in your life. A trip to Room Escape Southend could see you battling the Frankenstein Monster. Will you be able to solve the puzzles and escape the room so you can enjoy the rest of your trip?

With everything from museums and art galleries to Kids Kingdom and some tasty restaurants, there’s plenty to enjoy in Southend, regardless of the weather.
