Great Yarmouth, Norfolk is a family friendly seaside town located in East Anglia. The Great Yarmouth weather is quite favourable.
Its warm and sunny with a gentle sea breeze, and because of the location we tend not to get too much bad weather, but it’s not too hot like the inner cities.
There are a number of Dog friendly beaches in the area, Great Yarmouth beach itself stretches over a couple of miles, incorporating golden sandy areas and sand dunes to the north and south.
Things To Do In Great Yarmouth
Directions To Great Yarmouth – There are two major roads that will get you to Great Yarmouth, coming from the North you will travel in on the A47 and from the South the A12, both of which are quite slow roads, and expect plenty of tractors! But admire the scenery as you arrive into Sunny Norfolk.
Great Yarmouth Attractions
There are so many amazing days out in Great Yarmouth, and many of them can be found along the Golden Mile, including The Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach with its Wooden Roller Coaster that was built in 1932 and is still operational today, definitely one not to miss.
Further along the mile you will be able to visit the penguins and the vast array of Marine Life inside the Sealife Great Yarmouth, one of the great indoor activities Great Yarmouth has to offer, if you happen to be visiting on a day when the weather isn’t so great (it does happen occasionally!)
If you are looking for another indoor activity to spend a little time out of the blazing sun, how about Wellington Bowling.
Great Yarmouth has one of the most idyllic alleys, located on the end of the Wellington Pier. One of the best things to do with kids in Great Yarmouth, no matter their age.
We have some very unique Great Yarmouth Tourist Attractions, including the Merrivale Village, which is a complete attraction full of miniature people and buildings and a beautiful traditional penny arcade attached.
As you currently walk along the Golden Mile you will notice a rather large space, where the Marina Leisure Centre used to be, do not fear a Brand New Leisure Complex is in the pipeline, but for now enjoy the stunning Sea views, without leaving the promenade!
On the opposite side of the road you can go back to the dinosaur era with a visit to Jurassic Journey

If you are looking for things to do in Great Yarmouth at night, you may want to consider Dog Racing. Great Yarmouth Stadium offers greyhound racing, or maybe you’d prefer a night of Banger racing, either of these will provide a fun evening of entertainment.
Or maybe grab a show at the Hippodrome Circus, with performances taking place during the day and most evenings throughout the summer, with special shows during most of the school holidays throughout the year.

If you are travelling with your older teens, the Andover House Hotel and Restaurant caters for residents aged 13+ and offers 27 en-suite rooms.
The Imperial Hotel offers 39 individually styled bedrooms, many with sea views, it can be found opposite the newly refurbished Waterways, there are quite a few more but these three are some of the best hotels in Great Yarmouth.
If you are looking for a cheap hotels in Great Yarmouth, there are two Premier Inn Hotels, one located directly next to The Pleasure Beach on the seafront alternatively if you are coming by train, the Premier Inn at Great Yarmouth West would be the perfect choice.
If you are looking for a cosier stay, to be more like home from home, then you might want to consider a Bed & Breakfast or a guest house, and there are plenty of choices in Great Yarmouth!
Caravan Parks In Great Yarmouth
If you are looking for a self catering option, with plenty of entertainment to keep the children occupied, they will love the choice of caravan holidays in Great Yarmouth.
Haven Seashore can be found at the Northern end of the Seafront, opposite the Sand Dunes, and Parkdean Vauxhall Holiday Park is located close to the train station as you approach the resort of Great Yarmouth.
Campsites In Great Yarmouth
There are a couple of camping sites in Great Yarmouth including Vauxhall Holiday Park, which has all of the entertainment but providing your own accommodation obviously works out a cheaper holiday.
If you are looking for a unique camping experience in Great Yarmouth, how about camping directly next to the racecourse, yes the Camping and Motorhome Club have a site that at Great Yarmouth Racecourse, it’s a surreal experience pitching up next to the barrier where the horses usually run!
If you are looking for a little more luxury, you may want to look at Millview Glamping with its luxury pods which include a Full King size bed and bunks for the smaller ones.

There are lots of places to stay just outside of Great Yarmouth, giving you the choice of visiting the seaside resort or having a peaceful break on near the Norfolk Broads.

If you are wanting to stay in a caravan within a few miles of Great Yarmouth, there are plenty to choose from.
Wanting a holiday park with entertainment, there are Haven Parks at Wild Duck in Belton, Caister-on-Sea and Hopton and Parkdean Resorts at California Cliffs, Breydon Water, Cherry Tree and Summerfields.
If you would prefer an independent Caravan Park, you might like to check out Potters, Hemsby Beach Holiday Park, Grasmere Holiday Park and Blue Riband Holidays all within the area and all offering something different, depending on your requirements.

If you are wanting to camp, but would prefer to be a little further out of Great Yarmouth you may want to stay at Haven Wild Duck which has all the facilities and entertainment, but also places to pitch your tent.
Or if you fancy a Parkdean Resort to visit Sparky and Sparkle you can pitch up at Breydon Water or if you are looking for a slightly quieter, luxurious site, check out Clippesby Hall or maybe Rose Farm Touring Park, Burgh Hall Holiday Park, or Scratby Hall.

Things To Do Near Great Yarmouth
There are lots of places to visit near Great Yarmouth, if you are an animal lover you could visit Thrigby Wildlife Park, Fritton Owl Sanctuary, Africa Alive or Banham Zoo, all within 20- 60 minute drive from Great Yarmouth.
If you are looking for different beaches to visit, there are some amazing ones to choose from, including Hopton, Scratby, Hemsby, Winterton.
My favourite one has to be Gorleston Beach. Great Yarmouth is great for lots of things to do, but if you are just looking for a golden, sandy beach with a few cafes and ice-cream shops, then Gorleston is your place, last year they opened a new Splash Zone, which the children will adore.
The wonderful thing about Great Yarmouth is that as well as the seaside you also have the stunning Norfolk Broads to explore by foot, or boat.
