Dog Friendly Christmas Light Trails – Looking for somewhere to take the family during the festive season in East Anglia, have you considered visiting a Christmas Light Trail? There are some stunning Illuminated Trails in Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.
On previous occasions we have had to leave the two Newfoundlands Bree and Belle at home with someone, meaning that the entire family doesn’t get to experience the light trail.
I may have the answer for you, because some of the Christmas Light Trails are putting on special Dog Friendly nights, meaning you can all visit together, including your four-legged family members
Dog Friendly Christmas Light Trails
Fairhaven Christmas Lights Walk
Location : School Rd, South Walsham, Norwich NR13 6DZ
Join Fairhaven for a night of wonderment. A short magical trail through the historic woodland, taking in the twinkling of fairy lights, families of deer and glowing stars and snowdrops.
With access to as many trips around as you want, you can even stop for a top up of hot chocolate, mulled wine or even a Bailey’s Hot Chocolate and mince pie. You can even grab a large marshmallow to toast on the fire pits.
Unfortunately, this route is not wheelchair friendly. You can hire one of the electric scooters, but please reserve in advance. optional donation to hire a scooter for this event. No need to book under 4’s, dogs free to attend on a short lead.

Helmingham Hall Illuminated Garden Trail

Experience the magic of winter at Helmingham Hall’s Illuminated Garden Trail from Friday 14th to Friday 19th December 2025
The gardens will be transformed into a stunning world of light, colour, and sound, featuring new displays for 2025.
Enjoy festive treats, cross the historic drawbridge, and toast marshmallows around fire pits. Browse the Stables Shops for unique gifts, and warm up with a complimentary mulled wine.
All well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. Please clean up after them.

Hylands Estate – Chelmsford Enlightened
Location : Hylands Estate (Writtle Entrance off of Greenbury Way – A414), CM2 8FS – Follow signs for Hylands Park NOT Hylands House (No access to the event from the London Road Entrance)
Enlightened returns to Hylands Estate with a new longer route and even more magical lighting installations.
The grounds will be transformed into a magical illuminated light trail for visitors to enjoy with all the family. Book now to see mesmerising light installations and enchanting moments along a specially crafted route for our visitors this winter.
Dogs on a lead are allowed on the Hylands Estate Trail.

Dog Friendly Days – This year Luminate has increased the number of days that dogs are allowed to visit, you can choose from 17th, 20th, 24th & 27th November and 1st, 4th, 8th, 11th, 15th, 18th & 22nd December, meaning there are lots of opportunities for you to visit with your favourite pups.
